FOLLOW-ON FOSTERS: Flossie + Shadow

Dear all

We have two beautiful dogs we need to move from their current foster homes. Neither are quite ready yet to go to their forever homes – although we would consider potential adopters should you have the right set-up/necessary experience.
Shadow is a stunning-looking boy – a retriever/collie x is our best guess. He is about two years old and and is a sweet, gentle boy who is housetrained and settles brilliantly in the house.  He pulls a bit on the lead, but is pretty good off-lead – a biddable, very trainable youngster.
Shadow is currently in foster in Weston-super-Mare where he is an only dog and we’re moving him because we feel he would do best in a home with another dog (he is clearly longing to say hello to every dog he meets on walks and we feel he’s missing dog company at home).
He also has not yet been neutered, and needs to be, as he does try to mount other dogs when out on a lead (doesn’t do this off-lead). So we’re looking for a foster home with another dog that could put an impertinent boy in his place if needs be and could do a bit of work with his lead-pulling. Shadow shared just fine with other dogs in his Irish foster home before he arrived with us. Once he’s settled in, we would then arrange for Shadow to be neutered – and then he’ll be good-to-go! A heart-meltingly lovely boy, this one.
Flossie is a cruelty case – just about the thinnest dog we’ve ever seen when she came into rescue. She is now a reasonable weight and is the sweetest, cuddliest girl you could ever imagine, but she now needs to move to home with another dog or dogs  to help her through the next stage of her rehab – learning to be a normal dog. She is scared of going outside, for instance, so has not yet been out for a proper walk, and she is not yet housetrained – although she will go on paper in a designated place. She is also miserable when left – something we feel will quickly resolve with other dogs around.
A visit from two other dogs last week really transformed Flossie – she trotted happily outside in the garden to be with them, for instance, when she has been scared of doing this.  So she needs other dogs around – plus an experienced home that can offer the right amount of intuitive kind-firmness as there will be times when she needs to be encouraged to do things.
Flossie is currently in Anglesey but we can help transport her to anywhere within reason if it’s the right home.
If you are interested in either of these dogs, please email me asap!

About Mick C Gorman

Slightly damaged old bloke who is plodding on with more than a little help from a great wife. I have been married for 36 years and have 2 grown up children. I did the usual thing and replaced children with dogs when the nest became empty, best thing I ever did (apart from getting married of course). Life has taken a few interesting turns so far but this Epilepsy thing beats the lot! I love lots of things but in the past have never really stuck with them long enough to be good at them, I am trying harder to be better at a few things rather than okay at loads of things. There is still plenty of time. :-D
